Here at Viridian Day Spa, located in Charleston, South Carolina, we are bringing guests a spa experience that focuses on nature-inspired practices and products and superior
client services and hospitality - all offered in an elegant, soothing and eco-friendly environment.
Our founder Laura Kennedy, a former corporate executive, was inspired to launch Viridian because her own experience with spas generally left her wanting something more. "I
wanted to create a healthy environment for employees and guests, which led me to the green renovation of the spa and the introduction of earth-friendly practices, services
and products. Treading lightly on the planet is a natural fit for spas whose mission is to promote healthy, balanced living," she said.
"Viridian takes a holistic approach to using natural, planet friendly practices and products, and we believe our employees and guests will benefit greatly," Kennedy adds.
The spa visit that ultimately sent Kennedy on the path to Viridian occurred a year ago, when she experienced her first true seaweed bath in Ireland. "It was the most incredible
spa treatment I had ever had…a very tactile experience of bathing in sea water with clean, freshly-harvested seaweed," she said. "I left feeling euphoric and as if I had truly
connected with nature." Kennedy had experienced the rejuvenating properties of seaweed baths; she had also discovered her calling to open Viridian and offer therapeutic
seaweed baths and other soaks as part of the spa’s facial, massage and body treatment menu.
The signature Voya Seaweed Bath is expected to be a favorite. Viridian is the first North American spa to offer the product line, which relies on 100% certified organic
seaweeds harvested off the coast of Strandhill, Ireland. The Irish have known about the curative and detoxifying properties of wild seaweed for centuries. Bathing in
seaweed and salt water allows the body to absorb minerals, balancing the body and leaving guests feeling energized.
Viridian carries carefully selected product lines, including Voya’s seaweed-based treatments, products by B. Kamins, Naturapathica, Earth Mama Angel Baby and others.
Beyond these earth-sensitive aspects, what makes Viridian unique in the market is the wide variety of guest-focused features woven into every visit. From customized
music to an inviting and soothing relaxation area complete with a buffet of tea and healthy snacks, Viridian aims to give guests a transforming spa experience.
